French business failures and creations barometer
Every day, Sirenic counts, department by department, the reorganisation (redressement judiciaire) and judicial liquidation proceedings opened over the last 30 days, up to the latest BODACC publication, and the companies and other legal entities created according to the Sirene register. These are totals: no company is named.
The barometer will be published after its first run.
What these figures count
- Failures: judgments opening a reorganisation or a judicial liquidation, published in the BODACC (the French official gazette of civil and commercial announcements), counted at their publication date. A company counts once over the period. Safeguard proceedings are not failures: their total is in the JSON data.
- Creations: companies and other legal entities whose creation date, in the Sirene register, falls within the period shown. The register is published once a month: this period changes at the start of each month.
- Only legal entities are counted. Sole traders are not: at the scale of a department, a small number could point to a person.
- Each company is assigned to the department of its head office and to its sector according to the Sirene register. A department with fewer than 3 cases shows "fewer than 3"; other figures are then hidden when needed so that the total does not reveal the first. National totals count every case.

Sources and licence
Failures: BODACC, published by the Direction de l'information légale et administrative (DILA). Creations, departments and sectors: Sirene register of INSEE. This data is reused under the Licence Ouverte (French government open licence); Sirenic counts it without changing its content. Base map: IGN, ADMIN EXPRESS COG 2026, simplified version (DRAAF Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes), Licence Ouverte 2.0.
